Sustainable Aquaculture Research: focusing on aquaculture-environmental interactions and ecosystem-based approaches. Special reference to the ecosystem services and environmental trade-offs of Low Trophic Aquaculture (shellfish and seaweed). Approaches applied in my research involve field and laboratory experiments that answer basic ecological questions related to e.g. nutrient cycling, biodiversity and system productivity, and provide solutions to management problems.

What do you want to accomplish at the Delta Climate Center?

It is my ambition to make a significant contribution to the transition towards sustainability driven marine food production in the Zeeuwse Delta, which targets SDGs while taking into account the continuously changing ecological and social boundary conditions.
